two days backcountry - and i don't have any pictures handy. so i stole this video from dean. check out the sweet transition i pulled off at :49. then check out the sweet fall about 3 seconds later.
sat. 2/23/08: paradise bowls. great outing with the usual suspects. slight release triggered on "lone tree" which was a bit of a downer on the day and most definitely a gut check.
sun. 2/24/08: return to paradise bowls via kick and glide w/ jill along the michigan ditch. she is really taking a shine to this xc skiing thing. and that is a good thing.
two days in-area -
sat. 3/1/08: winter park/mary jane resort. 0900-1600 solid. no lodge for me. it was 47 degrees, creamy snow, and my legs hurt at the end of the day.
sun. 3/2/08: mary jane complex @ wp resort. 0930-1539 solid. still no lodge. 6-8 inches of new snow over the course of the previous 16 hours. overcast and 22 degrees or so. skied until my legs almost fell off. actually upon returning to the condo after that session i realized that a i broke my boot. one of the buckle catches somehow freed itself from the plastic shell and then ran off without so much as a "by yer leave kind sir". i ordered the replacement part from garmont (it came yesterday) and will be fixing said boot before this weekend, as i'd like to get out and enjoy some spring skiing.
------
so yeah its an over due post. i've been busy.
- sold the big boat and bought a canoe for fishing and low-key river trips this summer. can't wait to get it out. green river (in april, in utah) will probably be the maiden voyage.
- paid off my truck with proceeds from said boat sale, which is a great feeling.
- work is going gangbusters lately.
- spent all of last weekend working on my house. "remodeled" the garage so that it is a functional space. then tilled the garden in anticipation of putting some seeds in the ground.
- re-upped my subscription to the economist, which has given me more reason to read in the evenings, even if it is only a periodical and not real literature.

The Economist isn't peer reviewed but I think it is a great periodical. I don't think a political/economic periodical could be peer reviewed like a scientific journal, it just wouldn't work.
