pow pow

one of the husker fans i work with just sent me this pic., its kinda funny. i listened to that game on some a.m. station on my way back from nebraska (oh yeah, thanks for those rides fellas) which was a hoot. "husker nation" in full effect.

hit a resort last weekend (no bc action on the tele's yet, but soon soon soon). m. and i went to mary jane. i got to use the new skis; she had a good time on her snowboard. it was "ohhh, purdy gooo-oood" as we like to say. never have been on one of those lift thingy's so that was a little weird at first. i was convinced i was gonna fall off, make 'em stop the lift, and be heckled by the masses ... but it didn't happen (to me at least) thankfully. about a foot of powder(but who's counting?) on the ground when we got going, and it snowed all day. fun fun fun and i got to work on my turns a bit. but for some reason i kept reverting to the parallel turn instead of tele, for some reason it just comes more naturally. gotta work on that more.

afterwards we ate in d-town at some funky mexican restaurant (ever had a tofu-bulger burrito? i still haven't ...) and then caught the nuggets vs. heat game. shaq was stylin' on the bench in what appeared to be a mohair suit as he is still out with an ankle injury i guess. i was kind of hoping to see him play. oh well. the highlight of the game was that we got to see rob base at the half-time extravaganza (yes!! rob base - i ain't lying) which was a hoot in a mixed sort of way. also got to witness a little temper tantrum by the nugs' carmelo anthony. shortly before the half he got called for charging and hucked the ball into the stands, nailing an 11 year old girl square in the side of the head. that had to hurt, and i think it spilled her sody-pop. to his credit he apologised to her as he was leaving the floor at the half, but it was a miserable display nevertheless. i guess he's still a youngin' so he'll get it together in that regard eventually, probably. what is he like 21 or something. man thats nuts. and i haven't been exposed to that many advertisements since i don't know when. the whole thing was quite a spectacle. entertainment, for sure.

this has got to be an early submission for april fools day. come on, we should start subsidizing automobiles? really? i thought we already did that ... and have been for oh, i dunno, the last 6 decades or something. there is a huge misconception that drivers "pay their own way" through gas taxes and that simply isn't true. gas taxes cover only a portion of state and federal roadway expenditures. the rest comes from other sources, i gaurantee it. this logic is amazing to me. i'm not even gonna dive into it, just read the comments that other folks submitted below the article. i'm flabbergasted. stunned. simply stupified.

What's up Dave? You haven't posted in awhile. Do you remember Jeff Schroetlin racing in Nebraska in the early 1990s? He's a Cat. 1 in Illinois now, I guess he grew up in NE though?
