yeah well

its about time i got around to updating this thing, datgummit.

not a whole heck of a lot going on 'round here though, so sorry in advance for any dissapointment. skiing, playing with m. and whatnot (with a little work mixed in there) for the most part.

my lil' man Suey jacked himself up on a backcountry adventure a couple weeks ago. i got done with a tree run, was waiting for him at the bottom putting the skins back on for the return climb and here he comes running, bleeding all over the effing place. there was a big old gash in his leg, showing lots of dog stuff that usually doesn't see the light of day. no good. i bandaged him up best i could with what i had on hand .... and then we headed for the truck immediately. it was an hour of touch and go skiing before i got him in the warmth of the cab. then a personal best motor assisted descent from the pass-named-after-ferris-buellers-best-friend to the vet's office here in the fort. 3 hours of emergency room care and $200 later he was all fixed up. picture is of him chilling on the couch after the fact. he's all healed up now though, yo. yup.

a couple (errr, 3 to be exact) weekends ago me and m. took a trip over to the steamboat nebula after an outting on tele skis (her first, what a champ!), ostensibly to visit the strawberry hotsprings. it was warm. it was steamy. it was good. i think some of you would want to know that yes, clothing is optional - after dark of course. but don't get any ideas, we don't need any yahoos going there just to chester-out on someone elses nekedness, got it?

so this last weekend entailed a trip to kneebraska for the xmas holiday. warm weather there for this time of year. kind of freaky .... can't remember a FOGGY xmas ever. m. met my momma and that side of the family for the first time, and that all went off without a hitch ... they all thought she was great. my mom especially, despite the fact that m. dropped the f-bomb in front of her when we were playing pitch. she's embarassed; i think its funny. no harm done i gaurantee it. yup. purdy good. sucks that we didn't see mdub and his flock though. bastard, i called him ...

sounds like there might be some folks from lincoln heading out this way to bring in the new year. if its anything like last go 'round there will be all kinds of drunken shinangins. i gotta round up some extra rocks for nates bed. and someone call Soper, he needs to redeem himslef after last years miserable showing of vomit control i guess i gotta give him props for getting up to go to work at 7:30 in the morning or some crap. ouch. i don't plan on drinking as much as i did last year, but who know what will happen. prolly hit a day or two of lift-serviced skiing at the local environmental catastrophe's too while we're down there. i hope.

ok some random funny crap i've seen on the internet since i last posted.

this is just wacked. my favorite quote from the article: "experiments involving monkey sperm in human volunteers similarly failed.". no way. go figure.

a video game for my vegetarian and vegan friends. i don't make this shit up.

and for those of you have never had the pleasure of observing willie jo and cletus monet III antics' via the blogosphere, go check it out. these guys have been pestering the lincoln blog and some of those spin-off blogs over there for quite some time. oh, if only i could become the subject of someones fun-poking .... harmless, tasteless, but pretty damn funny.

So Dave did you ever know a guy by the name of Jeff Schroetlin living in Lincoln in the mid 1990s? This all stems from an "old school" thread on stlbiking.com a few weeks ago about Hajo.

yeah he was a young whippersnapper that ran around with Terry Papstein ... i'm pretty sure. i remember him going pretty good at a few races back in the day. once i was in a break with Ed Micek, Christian Davneport, and Steve Muhle ... that norfolk criterium in that neighborhood (we went once, i was sick, it sucked) by the lake. Jeff S. was coming up to us and those guys were playing cat and mouse for the sprint. I was begging "come on you guys, don't let him catch us, i just want 4th place. come on come on come on come on." i had been sitting on the last 5 laps. they kept effing around though so i attacked them. that pissed them all off so when they came around me i jumped on the wheel and didn't even sprint. 4th place. $25. heheh.

Hajo is an effing legend man. People in austin would always ask me if i knew him when they found out i was from lincoln.

It's crazy, people all over the country seem to know his legend. That guy probably could have raced with the best of em in Europe.
