bummer

spied this doofus on the way back from frisco (summit county nebula) on new years day. looked like he/she had been driving too fast for conditions (false sense of sick-yur-it-eeee is my guess) and lost it into the median of i-70. yeah, it could happen any of us. but man, it is particularly satisfying to see a hummer all hung up and getting a tow .... as thousands of others roll on by in their wee-little cars. i had to snap a pic. so there it is.
Jane Holts Kay (author of one of my faves - "Asphalt Nation") chimes in with her take on what the future population of the U S of A will mean in some ways. this was written in response to a recent census bureau projection for the year 2030 - which claims that we as a nation will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 363,584,435 (yeah, hows that for accuracy eh?) individuals. that'd be 23 percent more than we are at currently (293 million or therebouts). all i can say at this point is thats a lot of future residents.

checking out for a few days ... its hut trip time. leaving tomorrow a.m. at o'freaking dark thirty for the drive down to leadville - our point of departure into the backcountry. 5 days/4 nights of sweet sweet love, errr, i mean skiing. i'm leaving all my love here. except for my love of wilderness, good friends, powder and earning turns by good ol' uphill bipedal locomotion. wish me luck folks. big turns/NO AVY'S .... i'll post a tr and pics upon my return to the horsetooth nebula.

time to go finish packing.
