yup

been awhile. ok first things first. took a trip to d.c. for a few days. mainly to attend this conference. pretty good stuff actually. i am always interested in how folks from around the world are incorporating bicycles into their transportation plans and systems. at times they even point to my little town as a shining example of a good approach. not that i've been here long enough to take any credit for it, but its nice to know that i'm picking things up here that i may get the chance to apply someplace else if it ever comes time for me to move on. uyup.

so, whilst i was there i took an afternoon to do some museum hopping. first stop, the National Museum of the American Indian. very cool, i guess it just opened back in september. a great look at history and the present from a no-holds barred perspective of the American Indian. very insightful and humbling. second stop was national air and space museum. i felt like a little kid again - including getting the bejesus scared out of me by this frightening display of a space-monkey.

scarey space monkey

so the trip to d.c. was good, but pretty sad in the end. my grandma died while i was out there so it was brief return to fort collins for me then a weekend in lincoln spending time with the family and all of that. gonna miss her.

yup.

Sorry to hear about your Grandma, Dave. I hope your family is doing well and your Grandma passed quickly wihtout any suffering. My dad's mom is getting up there. I am hoping she hangs on till Tara and I get married. If she can see a Mason grandkid, which would have to be me unless my Canadian cousins knock someone up, that would be real cool.

Well, cheers buddy. Hope its going well. Enjoy riding on the job.
