i was browsing scl this a.m. and was saddened to learn of the passing of a cycling icon, sheldon brown. i've been a fan of his for many many years. take a look at his website and you'll see why. he was a veritable encyclopedia of bike shop knowledge. i'm sure he will be missed tremendously by those that were closest to him, as well as those who knew him as "captain bike". he was a master of his art.

on a more personal note and much much closer to home, my friend and artist Keith Foskin died while skiing on saturday at mary jane. the details are sketchy but it appears he had a massive heart attack while doing something he loved. we should all be so lucky. my thoughts are with his partner Alex, his twin brother Kevin, and my best buddy George, who was Keiths roommate for many years. i will remember him for his wry sense of humor, inquisitive mind, and passion for life and art. lucky for us, we have many tangible remnants of his beauty in the paintings he created.
