April 2010 so far

easter sunday up at 6 out at 8 on a mission to the fruita galaxy.

arrived early afternoon in the rabbit valley nebula where i found a family having a holiday picnic at the preferred landing pad. upon negotiation (i made sure they saw the pellet gun on the dashboard) they assured me they would not only vacate the premises at 1700 hours they would also run-off any interlopers that may try to poach my poach.

the family had their fun (kept finding easter eggs that the kids missed for the next 3 days ... ) while sue and i went for a little ride. when they left at 6 we nailed it down and started a fire. then i sat still for awhile and watched the sunset reflect off the cliffs in the distance.

i spent the next four days in a simple rhythm - sleep until the sun woke me up, make coffee, take sue on a hike, make more coffee, eat some breakfast, ride my bicycle in the desert for a minimum of 3 or 4 hours, make a fire, eat some dinner, enjoy a couple beers, and go to sleep. and it was good.

thursday evening of that week a people bomb went off in my little oasis. lucky for me it was a bomb of some of my favorite people in the entire world.

so then i got to ride for 3 days with my buddies. and it was also good.

mitch took these. ^^

then back to FoCoCO and this life. which is super good right now. witness:

i turned thirty eight this month. at least four people told me they thought i was six years younger than that. i feel ten years younger, but i'll take it as a compliment. also, i'm only about 5 lbs. heavier than when i was racing as a cat. two. maybe i should do some racing this year ... 'cross?

yeah that's right. i'm a team rider. lovin' the new bike too, by the way. after over twenty years on a twenty-six inch wheeled mtb i'm a convert to the two-nines ... its just better.

and then another car load of lincolnites showed up on thursday evening. it was my birthday week so i had some time to spare and we rode bicycles for a large chunk of time on friday. the highlight was seeing sam on a bicycle. inspiring to see this young man kick cancer's ass and get back to livin'. so stoked for him and his growing young family. awesome.

la luz, what would we do without you?

a new friend, amongst a bunch of hoodlums in a small, cramped bar. what a trooper.

rowe, ortiz, me, stacey, sir wilhelm, saturday april 17th 2010.

then on sunday of last week i had the pleasure of riding with sarah virginia and a merry band of old and new friends. we met at the farm house and then went cultivated some fun and fellowship, then we ate some pizza. and it was good.

actually, its all good.
