best $10 show ever

saw son volt at the aggie here in the fort last night. man that was a good show. my ears are still ringing a bit. farrar was on it. sth and i split my cost of admission as she scored a free ticket for herself. that was good of her. she rocks. soul sistah.

so i read today that al gore might be setting himself up to run again in '08. possibly with b.obama as a vp. hmmmm, that could be interesting, especially if mrs. clinton wants to make a run. a split democratic party doesn't sound too good, but we'll see. its a long ways away (sort of). also today i guess some dude who used to be an advisor in the clinton administration (and now throws rocks at both of the clintons) has a book coming out .... the premise is a presidential race between mrs. clinton and condi rice. wowie zowie, that would be interesting. i'd be tempted to vote for condi if she campaigned in those leather boots of hers.

locally, there was an eight hour stand off in a cul-de-sac here in the fort yesterday. and it happened to be the same cul-de-sac that past lincolnites rupert and boones live in. i'm sure that was exciting in one of those ways you don't want to be excited. i hope the flashbang grenades didn't break their windows and that the swat team stayed out of the flower beds or garden (if they have one).

did i mention that son volt played a killer show at the aggie last night?

so i'm tossing the idea of a lincoln road trip around this weekend. annual fall beer ride. only thing is, if i wait a week i can go there and do two rad-sounding 'cross races in omahole that my buddy john jr. is promoting. so, hmmmm. beer ride? 'cross races? beer ride? 'cross races? beer ride? 'cross races? decisions decisions. the other consideration is that i'm sitting 5th in the ACA 'cross "best all-around rider" competition (cat. 3, i downgraded. heehee) and if i skip any of the remaining races i'll slip down the rankings. not a big deal, but it'd be fun to see the series through to the end and see how it all shakes out. i do want to make a trip back there to see grandma, grandpa, and of course my momma and Al sometime this month. then the holidays'll be here and i'll get back then too. gotta spend some time with grandma.

go check out: obscurestore.com

and someone tell shermes that he always calls my office phone when he comes to town ... and that i'm not usually there at 11 p.m. when he calls all drunk from whatever random establishment he's at. (sounded like fort collins brewery last friday night). it is kind of funny to hear those messages on monday a.m. though.

my wife and I saw Wilco play here in Columbia a few weeks back and were blown away. Uncle Tupelo spawned some mighty music projects . . .
