dropping out and catching up

a little hiatus always does one good ... so here we are. i just can't tell if this is the end of one kind or if it should be the beginning of another another kind. double speak? yeah well.

well crap, maggies hour record attempt came up short. real short those pictures look like he's in a world of hurt. i suppose i would as well if i cranked on a 60x12 all out for an hour. probably have double hernia too. i read yesterday (can't remember where) that he will be going for it again soon ... but this time with a more sensible (say wha?) 60x13. good god thats a huge gear.

the onion (america's finest newsource) has a great interview with george carlin this week. i like what he has to say about where he falls in the political left/right spectrum and why. and oh man, there is some disturbing stuff in the savage love column. diaper fetish? dried feces? oh my god.

so yeeehaa. theres a lot going on daverills world. job related stuff (good and bad, but interesting either way you slice it). other stuff too, but more fun. thinking about enacting my fantasy of "davey's single-speed dream" this weekend and heading over to the western slope for a quick dose of 18 road and rabbit valley and all that stuff over in the fruita galaxy. its a perfect time of year, and i really need to fly out of town for a day or so.

tonight we have a warren miller film on tap.

higher ground is the name of it. nothing like a little classic bc ski documentary to get the fire stoked for chasing turns and touring in the high country. the folks over at CAIC have deemed next weekend the start of the bc ski season in our lovely state. you can bet i'll give the low down on that when the time comes. i took a trip up to cameron pass last weekend just to do some recon ... it was looking pretty thin. but if next weekend holds true, it will verify the prediction that i made on saturday ... that it would be a week or 10 days before things got good enough ... and oh yeah, word on the street is that the shanty that my buddies have up there just under went a renovation. like it sleeps 6 now instead of 4. i'll get pics of that sheeeite when i get up to checkity check it out.

i'm out.

and to all you new visitors. thanks for stopping by. don't be a stranger. we always have enough milk and coookies to go around.

nice post dude. pretty funny what Carlin says about the difference between right and left. have to agree in that being the big dividing line.

"believe the difference between right and left is that the right, for the most part, the bulk of their philosophy is interested in property, and the rights of people to own property and gain and acquire and keep property. And I think on the left—though they blend and mix—on the left primarily you will find people who are more concerned about humans, and the human condition, and what can be done."

It's funny to me that the right is predominantly Christian, and evangelical at that. From what i've heard, it sounds like jesus was an incredibly compassionate man, socially concerned, and charitable. Yet his neo-conservative followers seemed more concerned about the unfettered aquisition of capital without having to share with those less fortunate. I'd agree with George that there are some lazy ass people but for a lot of people they are predestined to their condition just as the drug addled trustafarian in any swanky town west of the Mississippi.

an interesting side, I was once told the demographic most likely to be on welfare are single white women.

on a less serious note, 60x12 is a 130 goddamn inches!

yeah i was surprised by that commentary coming from him ... for some reason. it seemed very succinct and spot on to me. good stuff fer shur mange.

that is a insanely large gear. i think he's realized thats what did him in. sounded like he was running a 13 in testing/prep. and then decided to go to the 12 in the last day or so before the race. a bit too steep it sounded like. how f'ing fun would it be to go to a velodrome, drink beer, and watch some giant swede flog himself trying to break the assisted hour record.

man that'd be so cool.

that would be fun. drinking beer watching someone suffer, especially fun is some sweedish bikini babes were handing out the beer.
