overdue

well i haven't posted anything for awhile ... its about time i guess. 'bout time for this too. we'll see how the bushies respond. haven't they always been saying that we are there at the request of the iraqi people? hmmmm. i think its interesting that the right wing pigeon himself doesn't report this item at all on his site - anywhere that i can find at least. correct me if i'm wrong, but does he get more and more selective about what he chooses to share with the masses as time goes on? its becoming pretty obvious to me.

so got out on the skis for the first time this year last weekend. backcountry tour for almost 4.5 hours. lots of deep fresh snow, no tracks that i could find. sorry no pics., i forgot the camera in my haste to get up to the pass. it was a bluebird day, not a cloud in the sky. did i say fresh pow-pow was in abundance? bodes well for the season me thinks.

funny thing - one of the eyelets dislodged from my boot so i had a little slop going on. second pair of alpinas that have done this for me. these were two seasson old (if my memory serves correct) but i thought it might be worth a shot at a return - espeically since i bought them at ems. well, at first the guy gave me a little grief, said i was overtightening them. i dunno about that fella, my foot was moving around in there enough to get a blister ... anyway, after i explained my dissapointment with the product, NOT their service, he simply refunded my money. all $150 bucks of it. i thought that was great. so props to them. however, they didn't have a boot i wanted (didn't really want another alpina ...) so i took the money over to rei and bought some rossignals, a little higher end so we'll how they fare in the bc when i get back from knee-braska.

i'm very excited to say that i've booked another hut trip for the first weekend in january. ski out of leadville to uncle buds, stay for two nights, ski over to skinner hut (by reputation one of the hardest huts to get to), stay for two nights, then ski out on the 5th day.

did i mention that in between sleeping and eating i was gonna do some skiing? i can't wait. both of these "huts" sit right near the continental divide at over 11,000 feet. love it.

heading to lincoln tomorrow morning after a quick (2 hours perhaps, if i don't vomit from the effort ....) skate ski up at happy jack - home of the infamous laramie enduro

skiing at the moment sounds a lot more fun than being at work and watching the clock slowly tick through the last 2 hours. I wish we got real winters here in Missouri but we don't even get any snow anymore!
