and so it goes

fall, it seems, is upon us here in the horsetooth nebula.

up early yesterday, a fog, some drizzle, cool temps. calling for knee warmers, a cotton cap under the helmet, and a long sleeve jersey. i put off the departure until about 10 a.m., but then said f' it and went out into the cool drizzle. wet before i got to the edge of town, cranked it a bit on the first climb to raise the core temp. a bit, and then settled into the day.

a tailwind up big thompson helped; i would see estes sooner than usual ... tailwind or fitnes? idunno.

took a break at j. point. it started raining steadily as i contemplated the finishing switchbacks to estes. not today i decided. 'cross races are only an hour long and i'm on pace for ~3.5 hours in the saddle.

back to the fort its cold. i stopped once to look at the mist hugging the rock we call horsetooth. wishing i had a camera, i saddled up and plodded home.

warm shower. left over thai food. vodka tonic and some stretching.

good enough.

That sounds like a fine day. I bet the thai & tonic were tasty after a cold, wet ride.
