shotgun post, i'm all over the place

fitness recap:

sunday: rist canyon. felt good. real good actually considering i've been so sickly and weak and whatnot. it was 75, no wind, sunny beyond belief - "another crappy day in colorado" as i like to put it.

mon: commute for the legs, yoga ball workout for the core and some meditation for the soul.

tues: commute, spin, eat, stretch, sleep. purdy goo~ood.

wed.: commute, 'cross practice at the park. man i felt shitty. some kid (bryan? maybe?) who worked for jt at the trek store kc just moved here and it was fun to talk to him a little. he's young and pretty strong. i actually ran into him at a 'cross race in denver about a year ago ... and now he lives in the fort. weird showing up to a local ride and there is a dude sporting that team kit. yeah well, some say its a small world but the cycling world is smaller.

oh, and the workout didn't go so well for me. not feeling right (in the lungs, legs, and strangely the head) after that sickness of last week. transitions felt good, but power output not so good, and that my friends, is a bit of a downer.

thurs.: commute, spin, stretch, eat my favorite dish: cous cous and almonds.

fri: commute, no spin ... ate good but i decided i'm NOT going to race tomorrow due to the bad sensations (you don't ever hear euro pros use that phrase ... its usually "good sensations" or "i was blocked" ... and i don't really get what that means) in my legs. i have an incredibly large knot in my right calve (not good) tomorrow will be long (estes, high in the upper 70's, sunny) and moderate. i MIGHT race on sunday since i have the option and am planning to hit it hard next weekend in gunnison. i figure it would be good to test the waters for real (not that it matters anymore, except for the fun factor) before then.

- on that note the first real goal is the uci weekend in boulder. carp says he's coming from the 57702 to stay at my place and share the trip down there sat/sun. any other takers? i promise it'll be fun and cheap (unless you shell out the duckets for a uci license ... which is really none of my business) i have room for 3 or 4 wayward bike racers and could find room for more if required (1st class digs fo real yo). just let me know.

i'd even be willing to pit for someone who wanted to do an A race. now thats an offer you don't see everyday.

oh, and psh ought to be showing up in my bailbox, errr, i mean mailbox sometime in the next day or so. more 'cross stoke. can't wait.

.........

work:

- got that transfer i mentioned a couple posts back. 20 hrs. a week in our new "development review center". of course we'll call it the DRC because we're a beauracracy and all and we love acronyms ... for christs sake. also found out that i'm gonna get ANOTHER new office in the restored train depot that acts as our downtown transit center. this part of it, my friends, is a positive thing. now i have a real door, a giant window (through which i can watch all sorts of humans), and genuine wood fixin's for the accoutrements (desk, door, window frames etc. ..... sort of reminds me of the renovated pieces of arch. hall at unl. ... which was one of the most beautiful buildings i've ever spent a substantial amount of time in) all in all change in the workplace keeps things interesting - to a certain degree. i still don't like people making decisions for me without at least a bit of my input, but whatever. one of the more interesting parts of switching to the depot was watching the office politics play out over who gets what new office (size, the amount of light, privacy, etc.). people can be so petty sometimes, even when they are upgrading from their current situation. it amazes me, really. at any rate - i'm completely satisfied with the new digs ... but then again, anyone who knows me knows that i tend to just roll with it - at least nowadays ;).

so, if you kept track of all that ... i'm gonna have two offices. it'll be like whack a mole. no one will be able to find me and i'm going to definately, most positively, work that to my advantage. it might be a challenge since the two occupationaldomiciles will only be about a 100 feet apart (yet in different buildings), but i'm up for it. i relish the challenge. as i've said before: they can't keep me down.

---------

family:

- well, my grandma's birthday, and my grandparents anniversary just passed. which is significant because this is the first time these dates have come up without grandma being around in my lifetime. so i called grandpa the other day. he had just gotten back from branched oak and a fishing expedition with the pastor of the church. i'm glad i called because i think he needed to talk at the moment.

i gotta get back to lincoln sometime this month.

- my mom and al were out here a couple weekends ago on what i've coined "the great american southwestern road trip". momma had never seen the grand canyon before and was on a mission to go and check it out ... so they came through the fort on the way there. we had a good time. we bowled (moms suggestion) and then spent a day, tourist style, in estes park. good to see them out of their element a bit and exploring. thats important. made me happy to show them a bit of my world - even if it was from behind the wheel of an F150.

---------

other stuff:

- interests: all i can say is holy crap. people are skiing up near cameron (my backyard) already and posting goddamn pictures about it. dare i say it may be a better season than last year (so you know, i just knocked on wood).

this does not help me focus on 'cross folks. seriously, i'm like all a.d.d. and stuff.

- politics: wtf? if the way we've been operating internationally is truly on the up and up, why is this neccessary?

i have to, for fear of invoking some action from the internet police, stop right there with the politics this go-round.

oh what the hell. carter (widely reported). woodward (widely reported ... he is pushing a book mind you). h. clinton. clinton. abrahmoff. i'll stop there.

no wait: notice how cheney and rumsfeld have been keeping a low profile lately? in a mid-term election cycle? just sayin', can you remember the last time you saw them in the news, saying something "solution oriented" or positive. didn't think so. gdub hasn't been stumping much for folks (except in controlled environments) wonder why that is ... and wtf is up with kissinger advising the white house on iraq (IF its true?)? warcriminalsaywhat? huh?

-----------

i'm out.

Holy crap that was a long post.

daverill, What is UP with my brother--top 10 in an A race (with Dan Timmerman and some Canadian Nat'l team guy making up part of the field) all the while wearing a dress up shirt and tie. The dude's a freak. We always knew that, though.

holy crap is right seth. if i post once a week you'll have to deal with diggin' through the details you mutherhumper.

so apperently your brother still has some deep seeded anger in him. if controlled, bike racing maybe cheaper than therapy and meds. just maybe. but if so barely. let me bust out a spreadsheet here and i'll blog my findings sometime soon.

By the way, I like the sound of your new office digs. I'd love an office where I could shut the door and keep out the riff-raff. Cous-cous and Almonds is good stuff.

Yes, Michael still has some rage. I guess that is why he is, and probably always be, a much better bike racer than I. Honest.
