not much but bikes

work is work is work.

today at the office it was "vehicular access to grocery stores" (bike lanes are agiven, duh!), "neighborhood parking concerns" (the annual sustainable living fair in the fort does have an impact on neighborhoods ... even though most folks ride bikes, another duh!) , and "inter-office politics" - i keep hearing i'm gonna get a new office in a new department in a different building but no-one from upper management has bothered to give me a hint of things to come. basically i'm waiting for the other shoe to drop, ya know.

whatever. i'll make the best of it and come out all the better. they can't keep me down, mfr's.
---------------

maintenance on the 'cross bike today after a short spin. cleaning/lubing/tinkering and whatnot. it all got me thinking about spec., parts, and shiney bits so i thought it might be interesting to do a tally of what all makes up my ride. so ...

frame: 52cm (or something) 1999 ibis hakalugi, black, 'theosis' printed on top tube, matching spinner fork stock from ibis, '98 ultegra hs, threaded.

drivetrain: 1x9 spd, dura-ace sti lever and rear der., 1997 dura-ace crank with 42t ring and gm ("garage manufactured") coda chaingaurd, dura-ace 12-somemiddletwenty cassette and chain. some old cartridge xt bb. pedals are the latest greatest from shimano ... whatever those are.

brakes: '97 deore xt canti rear, ~ '94 dia-compe canti front, left brake lever is a '92 shimano slr johhny. for christ sakes how do i stop?

wheels: "b" wheels are those old ('98) spinergy rev-x's of mine. "a" wheels are mavic ksyriums from 4 years ago. michellin cyclocross jet tires and some other assorted tread (some irc johnny's, some old vitorria clinchers, whatnot).

stem/bars/tape:120mm, low-rise salsa (gold cap)/bontrager race/cinelli cork. the coveted world championship striped plugs. yup.

seatpost/saddle: some cheap-ass kalloy post/an old flite that mw gave me. thanks gb.

accessories: nylon bolts in the water bottle braze-ons to save weight and keep water out, homemade chain keeper fashioned from a real chainkeeper and a the right diameter front der. clamp, miscellaneous srp ti bolts that haven't broken after x years of abuse, and last but not least a 1997 cunningham titanium kickstand and ballbearing package.

where do the waffles come from.

gotcha. random link. admit it ... i got ya.

------

'cross stoke - sorry about the music (turn the vol. down, unless you are related to someone in the band, or dig it, in that case i would be stoked too).

ya know, it grew on me the fourth time i watched it.

just kidding.

-------

i'm actually a bit treaded from yesterday. legs are sore. the spin helped (combined with some stretching, of course) but i'm feelin' the efforts, yo. good stuff.

Blah blah cross blah.

Next weekend. Pick a day, we'll ride Ned, so you can see what there is to see. As long or short as you want.

Times wasting. Weekends are limited. I know you can feel it too.

You are killing me with all these parts details. Ride your bike...And by the way...the season is over!

Just testing to see if I've figured out how to post. The sustainable living sponsored by Fat Tire sounds interesting.

thought about you this week, when Jp and MG told me the hispanic mechanic was back in town for a few days,

Mg lent him a bike, and he went on the tuesday night ride, which you can see via steve's you tube insert,

funny thing happend to the boy,

two flats on his way home,

and he gave Mg phone calls all night to come get him sounds like,

kinda funny thinking about Jamie walking a bike home with two flatt tires.
